Today I managed to crash my heli. Seems the heli is still in control of me, I think it should be the other way around, but that takes a lot more practice. If you like a challenge, I suggest you buy one, it’s definitely fun. Regretfully if have to order new main blades and main blade holders, not that they are expensive, it just takes a little while before they drop into my mailbox. If have posted the movie of the crash in the movies section. |

I have just received my new hobby. It came by mail, in a package. When I opened the package I found it ... a remote controlled helicopter. Great! I’m excited and eager to try it. I can’t wait! What will happen ... my guess is that the heli will crash. What ever happens I promise to post a small movie clip of my first flight and possible crash. More on this soon. |

As you might have noticed, it has been a while. In the meanwhile I did some testing with the rocket from the workshop. To be able to finish the workshop there are some minor problems with the rocket that need to be solved first. |

Today I planned to test the water rocket from the workshop and the altimeter; unfortunately I did not get the change to carry out my plans. Instead I have performed a pressure test. This test should give me an idea of the maximum pressure that can be reached with the Gardena launcher. I have set up a little test using the components which are also used in the pressurized section of the Gardena launcher. Basically I have tested the compressor, the garden hose, the Gardena quick connect coupling, the nozzle, and the PET bottle. The test was successful. Everything but the PET bottle is still in one piece. The bottle blew at about 14 bar (203 psi). If you would like to see what happened take a look at the movie (make sure you switch on your 5.1, 6.1, or 10.2 surround sound set). At least now I know that the launcher will allow me to launch the rockets at maximum pressure. |

It has been a while, I got a lot done except the website. I will update the website after I have tested the rocket which will be built in the water rocket workshop. Yesterday I have received an altimeter which I have ordered at apogee rockets. The altimeter should give us detailed information about the rockets performance. Once I get to test the rocket from the workshop I will also test the altimeter and report my findings. |

Finally I have been able to reproduce a movie which resembles the one I tried to shoot at the 24th. This movie shows 7 shots which are fired with the Mark I spud gun, 5 of them are lousy shots, the best shot is the last one. |

Today I finally was able to do some more testing with the high pressure Gradena nozzle that I use for launching the water rockets. Unfortunately Murphey hitched a ride in my trunk. The nozzle on the first rocket did not make a perfect seal so I was not able to get it pressurized above 6 bar (87 psi). The nozzle of the second rocket I prepared for launch did make a good seal, but this time the Murphey factor kicked in and the compressor did not get over 6 bar (87 psi). After a hint of my wife I had to conclude that the battery I use with the compressor needed recharging. So, I packed up my gear and went home with a few disappointing launch shots, which I by the way won’t publish. |

Added the “Stuff build by site visitors” section to the site. This section shows stuff that visitors who share the same interests have built. It’s a kind off “great minds think alike” section. |

I have been in Boston (MA) for a week. During my trip, especially the hours that I have spent on the plane, I had time to think about the problems that I faced with the quick connect nozzle. I had to come up with a solution. Well I think I did, I just have not been able to test it yet. I hope that I will be able to test it next week. I have published the solution in the workshop section for the Gardena Launcher. |

Added a movie where we launch the MAX rocket twice with the Gardena Launcher at 8 bar (116 psi). The first launch was planned; the second one was launched by Murphy. I forgot to bring spare parts so; the next few launches in the movie were done the classic way with a cork. |
