Guy causes ravage with orange cannon.

FRANEKER - A 38th year old inhabitant of Zwaagwesteinde has been arrested because he had been shooting oranges from his house at the Van Harinxmaweg. Nobody got hurt, but pieces of broken glass an orange remnant caused a lot of mess in and round the house. The police have impounded the cannon with sparkplug ignition. The suspect got a fine for illegal weapons possession and destruction..

Legal issues.

Below, on the left, you will find a newspaper article in Dutch. If you haven’t guest it yet, this site is hosted in the Netherlands, also known as Holland.  Holland is a small country within Europe. Some products from this small country are well known all over the world, for example tulips and Heineken beer. It’s also the country in which Dutch people live. It’s quite easy to obtain a Dutch newspaper here in the Netherlands. Anyway, below on the right we have posted the same article in English.

The newspaper article above does not fully describe what really happened. The guy who shot the oranges, shot trough a window of his neighbors who live across the street.

One of the conclusions you can draw from the newspaper article is that it’s illegal to posses a spud gun, let alone shoot with one if you live in the Netherlands. So if you would like to experiment with spud guns, move to a country, or state, which by law lets you build, own and shoot spud guns.

Another conclusion is that you should be careful where you fire your spud gun, and what you shoot with it. Make sure you clean up your mess. Is some countries, or states, littering is also considered a crime. In Florida for example the fine for littering in $1,000.00.

Most important though is that you do not try to destroy other people’s property. Take this site for example, the only thing we have destroyed or damaged so far, is our own property.
